Hi, first post, great board. I have gotten permission from the mrs. to get a tractor, but dont know what size would be right for me. My uses would be on 4 acres, 1 clear and 3 wooded. Landscaping, underground septic work, foundation for a workshop, cutting paths, moving mulch and firewood. I've looked at the jd790 but have been reading about the jd4110 and 4210. I would like the FEL and a backhoe. What is everyones recomendations?

Thanks
Scott

Scott; I'm pretty sure that the 4210 is the smallest of what Deere calls their "mid chassis" tractors and the 4110 is a "small chassis" model. If my memory seves me correctly I don't think Deere recommends a backhoe for their small chassis models. I have a 4300 with a #48 hoe and a #430 loader that we use on the farm to dig out rocks, stumps, trench utility lines, etc.. I've never driven a 4200 or 4210, but I did demo a 4100. it was a nice tractor, but just wasn't big enough to handle what I wanted to do. I've been so pleased with the 4300 that I bought a 4310 to go along with it. I'm a big fan of the 12/12 reverser transmission. Hydros are nice, but they do soak up some horsepower and cost quite a bit more. 4 wheel drive is almost a must for any brand compact, it costs more now but you'll more than get it back come trade in time. ....
